WABSHA, Minn. – After a winter of remodeling and expansion, the National Eagle Center will reopen to visitors partially June 3. The aviary’s hours: 10 to 5 daily: Admission: $10 to $12, toddlers free. The center has been closed for six months as part of the Wabasha Riverfront Revitalization Project. Eagle care facilities were expanded. Exhibit spaces were updated. Meanwhile, construction continues on outdoor sections.
Why eagles here. Near the confluence of the Mississippi and Chippewa rivers. The faster flow through the Chippewa delta prevents winter ice from forming on the Mississippi River, which keeps eagles around Wabasha for easy access to tasty fish.
