WINONA, Minn. – It’s an understatement to say that Justus William Pomeroy wasn’t pleased. It began with a disturbance call to police at an address on Harvester Avenue on the West End about 1:30 a.m. This is what the police report says: When officers arrived, Pomeroy reached for one officer’s firearm and then punched another officer twice in the face. At the jail house he struck a corrections officer in the face. Pomeroy, 28, of Winona, was booked, finally, on an assault charge. None of the officers was wounded seriously, although one had red marks and bruising to his face.
