WINONA, Minn. – After 19 years with her Blooming Grounds eateries, no one doubts that Amy Jo Marks knows the Winona coffee and deli scene. But a swanky cocktail bar? Marks is giving it a classy try with a place downtown she calls Muddled Thyme. It’s kitty-corner from Wells Fargo and down the street from Wells Fargo at 75 West Third. It’s a place to unwind and sip Zinfandel or ask the mixologist for a custom cocktail: “Yes, 007, your martini can he either shaken or stirred. Your call.” This isn’t a coffeeshop. A hostess greets and seats you. Among Chef Bill’s fare, mostly locally source, are Focaccia appetizers andf ig pizzas.

Classy place, classy guy. Marks has captured the ambience she seeks in this promotional photo.

Marks: “Winona has been a burger and fries sort of town. But now the driver is from the younger generation. The kids in their 20s and 30s are really driving a different sort of food scene, which is for the better. This a place to relax, slow down, and enjoy the finer things in life, food, friendship, and community.”
