WINONA, Minn. – Cops are quick to spot expired tags on car license plates. For them it’s reflexive. But in a traffic stop at Fifth and Hamilton streets, it was more than a motorist having forgotten to buy new tags but outright fraud. Chad Steven Walsky, 46, of Winona, had an old tag on the front bumper but a new 2023 tag on the rear. The new tag had been peeled off another family member’s car. He had swapped them. which deputies said Walsky admitted. The stop was about 11:45 p.m. The charge was a misdemeanor. Too: Walsky didn’t have insurance on the car, another misdemeanor.
