WINONA, Minn. – Police arrived at a house on Glen Echo Road to find a woman  terrorized by  25-year-old house guest smashing television sets and computers with a baseball bat. When the man was coaxed outside by police, they said he turned the metal baseball bat on them. They tasered him. Finally cuffed, Mitchell Lee Schroeder, 25, was taken to the hospital to check for injuries from the melee, then to jail. A mental health issue was suspected. These are details from the police account: They had been called about 1:45 p.m. to a domestic disturbance in the Sugar Loaf neighborhood. Through the back screen door, they saw Schroeder wielding the baseball bat and smashing things. Asked to come out, he did. In the backyard, officers asked him to drop the bat. He refused and charged. One officer drew his stun gun and tasered Schroeder. Grabbing for the baseball bat, the officer dropped his taser gun. Both Schroeder and the officer fell to the ground. A second officer cuffed Schroeder. Any injuries? Schroeder had a bruise from hitting his head on crushed gravel in the backyard. The officer who also went down had a lump on a hand.
