ROCHESTER, Minn. – The Rochester public school’s computer system was shut down after technicians discovered “irregular activity” on its network. The shutdown interrupted network-based learning and telephone connections. Was it a ransomware attack for extortion? Nobody knew. A third-party cybersecurity company was summoned for a detailed examination of school systems and data.
