KOOCHICHING, Minn. — In this hamlet near the Canada border, the season’s first frost arrived overnight — as it did across most of far northern Minnesota and at spots in northwest Wisconsin. The National Weather Service warned the night before: “Frost could kill sensitive outdoor vegetation if left uncovered.” In Winona and throughout southeast Minnesota lows fell into low 40s.
