WINONA, Minn. –Audrey E. Gorny, 82, of Winona, a career teacher at Madison Elementary School, died at Gundersen Hospital in La Crosse. At Madison she taught second-graders and third-graders. Earlier she taught at the Pickwick school and rural schools. She enjoyed working with young authors at writing seminars. She held a bachelor degree in education from Winona State University and a master from the University of Minnesota. In college at Winona she worked at Sammy’s Pizza. She was active in the Winona-Historical Society, especially the annual cemetery walk. She was the book-chat moderator at the museum for 10 years. She was also a member of the Winona Retired Educators Association, serving as treasurer.
