WINONA, Minn. – It could be as long as 90 days before the Winona School Board can sever it contract with the city Police Department to provide an on-duty officer at the high school. To cancel the contract requires 90 days notice, which goes into the fall semester. Meanwhile, school Superintendent Annette Freiheit told the Board that she will recommend a temporary safety alternative within 60 days. Her plan, Freiheit said, will focus on counseling and mental health.
