CLAREMONT, Minn. – A new four-lane section of Highway 14, set to open next year, has a wildlife crossing – under the right-of-way. The state Transportation Department hopes the tunnel, 10 feet tall and 9 feet wide, will reduce the incidence of cars hitting deer in a two-acre section where deer migrate each year. The box culvert structure, approximately 200 feet long, is near Claremont, between Kasson and Owatonna.
