ROCHESTER, Minn. – What is perhaps Rochester sculptor Charles Gagnon’signature work, the Peace Fountain, has been reburbished and installed on a new pedestal. The formal unveiling will be Tuesday. The sculpture had been the centerpiece of the downtown Peace Plaza. The Plaza’s renovation created an opportune time to redo sculpture’s pool and touch up the bronze with its earthtone patina. At the ceremony Tueday will be Kim Norton, mayor;  Patrick Seeb, Destination Medical Center executive director; and Holly Masek, Rochester Downtown Alliance executive director.

Doves in flight. The Peace Fountain stands 12 feet with 60 life-sized interlocked bronze doves. Fifty doves symbolize the 50 United States and seven the seven major continents, Three others represent the past, present and future.
