ST. GEORGE, Utah – The operator of United Airlines regional flights plans to drop service to Eau Claire in Wisconsin and Mason City in Iowa along with 27 other cities with low passenger volume. Service to other Upper Midwest airports, including LaCrosse, Madison and Rochester is unaffected. The operator, SkyWest, said a pilot shortage precipitated the cutbacks. Local authorities have asked for federal intervention under essential services regulations.
