LEWISTON, Minn. – Johnny Appleseed of legendry lore left a trail of apples up Gilmore and Peterson creeks, but they’re as much for birds and insects and, yes, worms, as they are for human consumption. Caterpillars early in the season also can take a toll, some years more severely than than others.
