WINONA, Minn. – Friends, one wielding a pool cue, chased an assailant out of residence on the Far East End, police were told. The assault was shortly before 4 a.m. in the mostly residential 400 block of Mankato. The victim later told police that her ex-boyfriend pulled her hair, threw her on a couch, and, with his hands on her neck, strangled her to the point she couldn’t breathe. After letting go, he followed her to another room and twisted her hand and hurt her upper arm, the victim said. Her scream alerted others, who chased the ex-boyfriend out of the place. He turned and fired  an airsoft gun at the pursuers – and disappeared into the night. The assault inexplicably went unreported for half an hour. The assailant was long gone when police arrived.
