LACROSSE, Wis. – It’s hardly unusual for Bob Everitt to dance the evening away at the Concordia Ballroom, but this past weekend was special. It was the eve of his 100th birthday, which comes Tuesday. Friends, mostly with silver hair, threw a party at the ballroom. And everyone waltzed and polkaed and otherwise fast-stepped and slow-danced among lots of balloons and a banner of well wishes. During a break, Everitt told a WKBT interviewer tat he’s been dancing since he was10. That would have been 1932. “My folks had rolled the carpet out every Saturday and the neighbors all come and dance.” To what does he credit his longevity? Dancing’s the best exercise, he said.
