MANTORVILLE, Minn. — A Goodhue County sheriff’s deputy arrested a man driving south toward Mantorville within an hour of an attempted bank robbery in Pine Island and another other robbery half an hour earlier in Rochester. Police spokesperson Amanda Grayson in Rochester said police were confident both robberies were by the same man, who appeared to be acting alone. Grayson said the robber did not display a weapon at the Rochester robbery, at a Sterling State Bank branch. He left with an unknown amount of cash, Grayson said. She was unsure whether any money was taken in the Pine Island robbery. The arrest was believed to have been on County Road 5, a 14-mile route linking Pine Island and Mantorville. The car reportedly had a Dodge County registration.
