DES MOINES, Iowa – The electricity and natural gas provider MidAmerican Energy advised its Upper Midwest customers that heating prices soon may skyrocket. Marketing vice president Peggi Allenback said the global demand for natural gas is up, U.S. production is down, and on-hand MidAmerican reserves are down. Market prices, she said, are more than double a year ago. Residential customers are projected to see increase by anywhere from 46% to 96%, she said.
