LACROSSE, Wis. – Business columnist Steve Cahalan of the LaCrosse Tribune, whose reporting on local retailing is always upbeat and advertiser-friendly, seems to have run out of material. In a recent column Cahalan found only one positive development — kinda. Advance Auto was building a store – but on the site of the Carlos O’Kelley restaurant, which recently went out if business. The column’s four other business news nuggets were patently downbeat:

> St. Croix Hospice branch, closed.

> Pier 1 Imports, closed.

> Pawn America, closed.

> CBD American Shaman, closed.
