WINONA, Minn. – The Winona State University floating classroom and tour boat, the Cal Fremling, has gone downriver for winter drydocking after a season 55 daytrips. Nikki Herold, boat manager, noted that the season had a late start, in mid-June, because of Covid. For most tris, the 49-passenger vessel was fully booked, Herold said. A new initiative this summer was Warriors on the Water for prospective students and their guests for an informational river cruise. For the winter the Fremling is drydocked in LaCrosse.
