LACROSSE, Wis. – Winona State University’s floating classroom, the Cal Fremling, has passed its annual Coast Guard inspection. Kim Hill, who manages the boat, was on hand for the inspection at American Marine in LaCrosse, where the Fremling has been drydocked for winter. “All I need to do is get the fire-extinguishers checked before we launch again,” she said. The Fremling missed this season because of the coronavirus pandemic. Although there are uncertainties about the status of the virus in the months ahead, Hill said: “We’ll be ready.”
