NORTHFIELD, Minn. – A Northfield driver was injured fatally when he collided with a Freightliner straight truck on State Highway 3 in Northfield. Gerald Paul Maas, 83, was rushed 45 miles to a Minneapolis hospital but died. The collision was about 9:50 a.m. at Honeylocust Drive. The vehicles collided in the intersection at a 90-degree angle. The truck driver, Russell Anthony Madden, 44, of Kasota, was unhurt. Maas was in a 2009 Pontiac G6.
