CHATFIELD, Minn. – A Chatfield man was charged with sexually assaulting a young girl, who is identified in the criminal complaint as under 5. David Townsend, 31, faces three felony counts of criminal sexual conduct, two of which allege sexual penetration. The girl’s mother told police in February that the girl had awakened about 8:00 p.m. the night before and was wiping blood from her buttocks, the mother said. Townsend denied it all and agreed to a DNA sample, which the criminal complaint says showed his sperm on child’s underwear and vaginal area. At his arraignment Wednesday in Olmsted County Court,, Townsend was ordered to make a court appearance in December.
