BLOOMER, Wis. —A female bald eagle was shot in mid-flights and almost killed in Cooks Valley six miles west of Bloomer. She was felled with a shotgun gun blast. The bird was taken in critical condition to the Raptor Education Group in Antigo, 150 miles away. She had more than 20 shots in her body and suffered a broken with and lead poisoning.

In critical condition.  Experts say the shooting obviously was intentional. It’s hard to mistake an adult bald eagle for any other bird.  The white head and tail feathers are clearly visible in flight.
