ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Minn State college system and the University of Minnesota have created a collaborative initiative to address the growing shortage of nurses in the state. A goal is to draw under-represented populations into nurse training. The state’s nursing workforce has 13.5% non-white registered nurses and 15.7% non-white licensed practical nurses. The general population is 21.8% non-white. Men are even more under-represented with only 9.8% of RNs and 6.8% of LPNs.
