WINONA Minn. – A tense 12-hour standoff ended when a SWAT team with a K-9 smashed through drywall to capture a man who had barricaded himself in a house attic on the East End. Early in the siege the man said he would be taken only in a body bag. As the confrontation continued, the man set small fires around the house, police said. Arrested, apparently without injury, was Robert James Cerney, 41. He was taken under guard to the Winona hospital to be examined. Police Chief Tom Williams said several officers suffered minor injuries. The stand-off was in the 650  residential block of East Wabasha Street between Zumbro Street and Mankato Avenue. The arrest was about 8 a.m.
