WINONA, Minn. – Sheriff Ron Ganrude has ordered spot-checks at taverns for under-age drinkers. The checks will run through the end of the year, Ganrude said. Anyone looking under age 40 will be carded, he said. Tavern owners were urged to be sure their employees are not serving minors. Noncompliance can put a liquor license in jeopardy, he said.
