EYOTA, Minn. — An Iowa driver crashed into the middle of a four-year-old roundabout and vaulted into a ditch and was injured. Bernard Edward Merten, 81, of Toeterville, was taken 16 miles to a Rochester hospital. His injuries were non-life threatening, police said. He was westbound, heading toward Rochester, about 11:55 a.m. He was driving a 2007 Ford 500, whose airbag deployed. The round-abut is on Highway14, the main Winona-Rochester route, with exits to Plainview and Interstate 90.
