PRESTON, Minn.  A southeast Minnesota man, already with a drug-dealing record, pleaded guilty in the April 2020 drug overdose death of a Chatfield teenager. Nelson Augustino Soro, 22, admitted to third-degree murder in a plea-deal if two other felony charges, including first-degree aggravated robbery, would be dismissed. Soro was accused of supplying counterfeit versions of pain-killer Percocet pills laced with fentanyl. The customer, who was 17, bought the pills in Rochester the night before he was found dead in his mother’s apartment in Chatfield.. If the plea deal is accepted by the judge, nine years of a 10-year prison sentence would be waived. The robbery and assault charges were a separate case. Soro was accused of robbing and assaulting a Chatfield man and woman in November 2020. The man told police that Soro took $2,400 while visiting this apartment and then punched him and his girlfriend when they attempted to stop him from leaving. Also: Soro has been on probation for a 2019 home invasion in Rochester. Soro and two other teenagers barged into a southeast Rochester apartment with gun and assaulted one of the occupants.

Soro. Plea deal would cut prison to one year if he also goes into rehab. His “territory” ranged from Austin to Rochester to Chatfield.
