EAU CLAIRE, Wis. –Radio host Al Ross, known for the regional arts and culture program “Spectrum West.” died of cancer at age 73. Besides hosting “Spectrum West,” Ross had a variety show with musician Mac Cherry — “The Big River Radio Wave.” The show, which ran eight years, was recorded live at the Big River Theatre in Alma with comedians, musicians and storytellers. “Big River” was carried on WPR stations in west and southwest Wisconsin with select episodes airing statewide.
