MINNEAPOLIS – A Delta airliner lost control of wing flaps after take-off from Bemidji and diverted to Minneapolis. The emergency landing, with Alert 2 firefighters standing by, was uneventful. Flight 4287 departed Bemidji at 6:27 a.m. for Brainerd, but the pilot chose to skip the stop and asked for emergency equipment to stand by at MSP. Even without wing flaps, the pilot managed a descending loop to allow time for firefighters to move equipment into place and to line up with a cleared MSP runway. The landing was at 8:20, almost two hours after take-off. The CRJ-700 can. carry 69 passengers with a crew of four, but Delta did not clarify whether the flight was full.
