HOMER, Minn. – A woman’s body was recovered from the Mississippi River downstream from Winona. The body was not identified immediately. Winona County Sheriff Ron Ganrude said the body was found on the Wisconsin side of the state line that runs down the middle of the river. The investigation was turned over to Buffalo County authorities. Ganrude said a 911 caller to Winona about 4:30 p.m. reported seeing a body floating in the river near Mosquito Island . The body was pulled up by a Winona dive team.
