MADISON, Wis. – Republican legislators are pressing state game officials to launch a wolf hunting season immediately, but the game experts want more time to get ready. The deputy secretary of the state Natural Resources Department, Todd Ambs, told the department’s policy board that the agency needs time to gather data and set quotas. Ambs said taking time to do it right makes sense. There is no emergency, he said. Wait until November when the agency already has scheduled a wolf season, he said.
