ST. PAUL, Minn. — Police are looking for whoever shot a puppy inside a portable toilet at the Maryland Avenue and Dale Street park. Police say a 911 caller about 3:20 a.m. said he had heard a dog yelp and saw a man come out of the toilet. Officers found the dog, which had been shot in the snout.The dog, a mixed Lab retriever thought to 4 or 5 months old, was taken to the nearby Como Park Animal Clinic. The bullet had broken his top jaw and shattered a few teeth. “Overall this little guy is lucky to be alive,” said Liz Gigler the Rescued Pets Are Wonderful organization. Vets did surgery to repair what they could of his jaw.
