BROWNSDALE, Minn. State Senator Gene Dornink won his primary election bid in redistricted District 23 despite claims he never moved to the district. Dornick, a Republican, received 71% of the vote. He defeated fellow Republican Lisa Hanson. Dornick will face Democrat Brandon Lawhead in the November general election. Just days earlier the Minnesota Supreme Court dismissed a legal challenge to Dornink’s residency. He was first elected to the State Senate from Hayfield, but the town was shifted to another State Senate district after the 2020 census.
