WINONA, Minn. — Because of demolition of the old Junior High School auditorium, the Fifth Street thoroughfare just south of downtown will be blocked off Monday through at least Friday. Also, the next-foot public library is closed for the demolition until February 22. Overdue fines will be waived, librarian Lezlea Dahlke said. The demolition of the auditorium, a major structure, is to make room for the new 700-seat Minnesota Masterpiece Hall. The old auditorium was built in 1928. It has been in disuse and falling apart since 2000.
