LACROSSE, Wis. – Rain over the past week or so has alleviated the severest drought conditions in Winona County and adjoining areas of Fillmore sand Houston counties, the U.S.  Drought Monitor reported. Even so, most of Winona County remained abnormally dry. Northern Fillmore and Houston counties, although also improved, were in a lesser category of moderate drought.

Drought recedes slughtly. Minnesota is still abnormally dry for the second week in a row – now 82% compared to 75% a week ago.  Deep orange is the most severe.
