WINONA, Minn. – The organization Freshwater asked for volunteers to celebrate Earth Day Weekend by helping clean up Gilmore Creek. The creek runs the length of Winona — from headwaters above Saint Mary’s University, to Bowler Lake on the Far West End, to the industrial zone at the far East End and its confluence with the Mississippi. Gathering spot: 1 p.m., Saturday, at Sioux Street parking area. Please bring a water bottle, waterproof footwear, gardening gloves, and weather-appropriate clothing, sponsors said.
