EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The county’s district attorney, Gary King, resigned effective August 14, apparently ending an investigation into drinking on the job, snoozing through court hearings and other errant behavior. An assistant said that King will help reassign his cases to others in the office. In response to the resignation, Governor Tony Evers called off a state-level investigation. The governor invited applicants to fill out Jing’s term.
