NORTH MANKATO, Minn. – After close but unsuccessful campaigns for Congress, Dan Feehan has decided not to run again. Feehan, age 39, a Democrat, said he had received “overwhelming encouragement” to run in but decided to focus instead on his family. The kids are 11, 8 and 2. He owns a human resources consulting firm. This is Feehan’s electoral history for the MN-1 Congressional district that spans southern Minnesota:
> 2020: Feehan lost to Jim Hagedorn 48% to 45%.
> 2018: Feehan lost to Hagedorn 50% to 49%.
Hagedorn, a Republican, died in February in his second term in Congress. His death left the MN-1 seat open for a special election in August. Feehan is an Iraq combat veteran who in two tours earned the Bronze Star and the Army Commendation Medal. Later he was an acting assistant secretary of defense in the Pentagon.
