MANKATO, Minn. – Despite scandal and other setbacks in his first term, including a cancer diagnosis, Republican Jim Hagedorn was kept in office by southern Minnesota 1st Congressional District voters. The margin was 3 points. A Hagedorn campaign theme was that Feehan was a carpetbagger paid to run for office. Indeed, he said, Feehan was “handpicked by Nancy Pelosi” and represented a far-left agenda. The carpet-bag allegation was ironic considering that Hagedorn had himself spent a career in the Washington bureaucracy. Feehan portrayed Hagedorn as a Trump toady supported by special interests.
