WINONA, Minn. – Crews began clearing trees as Stage One of construction of four rotary intersections on Mankato Avenue. Temporary lane closures will be occurring, the state Highway Department said. The tree project had been scheduled in the cold season to minimize disturbing an endangered species of winter-hibernating bats. Crews hope to have the necessary trees removed by the end of March.
