ROCHESTER, Minn. – A driver being pursued by police crashed into a ditch in the Quarry Hill area northeast of Rochester and disappeared on foot into a cornfield. Police called in a K-9 to search. They called in a drone. Then a helicopter. Then they established a perimeter. All this was to no avail. The chase began about 10 p.m. at East Circle Drive and Silver Lake Road Northeast. The initial issue: Erratic driving and a broken taillight. About the man’s whereabouts after the search, police said there was no reason to think public safety was at risk.
