WINONA, Minn. —The beloved Winona schools mascot Herky joined the high school football team to visit little kids as part of the Herkymania homecoming week.  The players stressed the value of being good students and spread school spirit by teaching the Winhawk fight song The players then split up and read a book to individual classes.

Winona High football coach John Cassellius created Herkymania Homecoming week in 2008. It begins with players visiting grade schools. Other festivities include a parade, Friday at 5:30 p.m. at the high school, and the game at 7 p.m. at Paul Giel Field on Friday.
