MINNEAPOLIS –The Minneapolis City Council voted unanimously to spend $6.4 million in new funding to hire police officers. The police department has been decimated since rioting after the George Floyd slaying and is short-handed by 200 officers. Many quit or took leaves for trauma. The department has only 638 officers available for shifts.
