PITTSFIELD, Mass. – With the shrinking market for heavy-armor tactical war vehicles, Lenco Industries has changed colors. The market now is civilian – with Bearcats in reds and whites for ambulances and rescue vehicles. The military nomenclature MRAP, for Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicle, is gone from Lenco catalogs. Is there a message here for U.S. police departments that acquired war-surplus MRAPs for SWAT teams and kept the battle livery?

Lencor shifts gears. Evolving for civilian duty.

Get out the paint brush, folks, for an appropriate and less scary street presence for civilian duty.
