ROCHESTER, Minn. – A Maple Grove litigation lawyer, Ryan Wilson, won the Republican place for state auditor on the primary ballot. He was unopposed. The current state auditor, Julie Blaha is expected to receive the endorsement of the Democratic Party next week. Blaha was elected in 2018. Wilson’s specialty as an attorney is constitutional law. He was an active supporter of the Donald Trump presidency. In college he was president of a student chapter of the conservative Federalist Society. More recently he was honored as a fellow the libertarian Institute for Justice. Early in his career Wilson clerked for the Minnesota Supreme Court. He also is a former chief executive of medical research firm. The primary duty of the state auditor is financial auditing services for local governments. Wilson now appears to have no challengers at the state August 9 primary, which decides who will represent the party on the November ballot.
