FRENCH ISLAND, Wis. – Hairdresser Jackie Ristow nurtured a monarch butterfly from egg to larvae to caterpillar to gorgeous full wings in her yard. Then, smartly, it flew away to overwinter to the south, probably in the Mariposa Monarca Biosphere Reserve in Mexico. Will it return to the Ristow place next season? We hope so.
