DULUTH, Minn. – The Greenwood Fire southwest of Isabella calmed a bit overnight, which is not uncommon for wildfires. But, the U.S. Forest Service noted, the wildfire remained uncontained. The agency estimated the fire’s footprint at 9,000 acres. The fire had been advancing at 1,000 acres a day since it was first spotted nine days earlier. Meanwhile, several smaller wildfires ignited by lightning were spotted.
