MADISON, Wis. – The investigation into what caused a Wisconsin Air Guard F16 fighter jet to crash in a northern Michigan forest could take at least a year, the commander of the 115th Suadron said. Colonel Bart Van Roo said the investigators will begin with gathering and preserving information, which takes about a week. A second phase will take about a month for a safety board works to figure out what exactly happened. The final phase will nail down a cause. “I have full faith that because of the professionalism and professionalism of the unit, and the dedication and cohesion that we have that we’re going to work through together,” Van Roo said. “And if there’s one small, bright spot, it’s that seeing the teamwork over the last several days has done that.”
