LACROSSE, Wis. – A Chicago-bound American Airlines passenger was stopped at a LaCrosse airport checkpoint when a handgun was discovered in his carry-on bag. The weapon, which was loaded, was spotted by a Transportation Security Administraion agent in a routine screening. Police responded and confiscated the gun. The TSA, which announced the interception, did not name the passenger or whether legal action was anticipated. A first offense typically carries $4,100 fine. The TSA said the interception was the first firearm at LSE this year.
